Kayhan Güçeli completed his undergraduate studies in Mechanical Engineering at Middle East Technical University (ODTÜ), and then pursued an MBA at North Central College in the United States. Throughout much of his career, he held managerial positions in Operational Excellence in the automotive and medical devices sectors in the United States, where he lived for 25 years. Güçeli's love for the sea and underwater began with snorkeling on the shores of Iskenderun at a very young age. While continuing his university education, he actively participated in underwater research and education activities within the Underwater Community of ODTÜ student clubs. In 1988, he volunteered for 3 months in the Caretta Caretta Monitoring Project on Dalyan Beach. In 1992, he operated his own diving school in the Turunç region of Marmaris, Muğla, for 4 years. Married and father of two children, Kayhan Güçeli currently resides in Urla, İzmir. Since 2023, he has been serving as the General Manager at the Mediterranean Conservation Society.
