Scientific Data and Field Experience Support Conservation Efforts
At Mediterranean Conservation, we have been working for many years to support the effective management of marine protected areas, small-scale fisheries, the monitoring of fish populations, and the conservation of marine biodiversity along the Mediterranean coast, in coordination with and under the authorisation of the relevant public authorities.
As part of these efforts, we consider sharing scientific data collected in the field, together with local knowledge, with relevant public institutions to be an important component of conservation and fisheries management processes.
In addition to our ongoing information-sharing and coordination with the General Directorate of Fisheries and Aquaculture, we also carry out regular monitoring activities to collect and assess data related to fisheries.

The pressures facing marine ecosystems require conservation efforts to be implemented through an integrated approach that brings together the knowledge, mandates, and experience of different institutions.
Addressing fisheries management and marine biodiversity conservation together is essential both for maintaining healthy marine ecosystems and for supporting the sustainability of local communities whose livelihoods depend on the sea.
Through the cooperation protocol signed with BSGM, we aim to further strengthen our collaboration in integrating scientific data into decision-making processes and ensuring that field-based knowledge and experience contribute to fisheries management and marine conservation efforts.
