As a professor at the Faculty of Fisheries at Ege University, he conducts teaching and research activities on fishing technology, wetlands and traditional fisheries, and marine safety. He participated in advanced training programs on technological developments in fishing gear for sustainable fishing in Spain in 2010 and 2017. He is a founding member of the Mediterranean Conservation Society, a member of the Scientific Advisory Committee of the Fisheries Cooperatives Central Union (SÜR-KOOP), and the Izmir Fisheries Working Group. He provides academic expertise in the identification, implementation, and evaluation of research studies in fishing technologies for the Mediterranean Conservation Society.
