A Meaningful Collaboration for the Lycian Orchid: Mediterranean Conservation Society and Haremlique Istanbul

17.02.2026

Mediterranean Conservation Society (AKD) continues to build cross-disciplinary partnerships that connect nature conservation with culture and design. In collaboration with Haremlique Istanbul, we have launched a special design project drawing attention to the endangered Lycian orchid.

Developed within Haremlique Istanbul’s Lasting Conversation initiative, this collaboration aims to raise awareness about Mediterranean biodiversity while supporting AKD’s nature-based conservation efforts. The project is inspired by a unique botanical illustration of the Lycian orchid created by artist Işık Güner for Haremlique. Reinterpreted by the brand’s design team, the artwork has been transformed into a limited-edition silk scarf collection.

Named after the ancient region of Lycia, once referred to as the “land of light,” the collection highlights the delicate beauty of this rare endemic orchid species. By bringing together art, design, and conservation, the collaboration emphasizes our shared responsibility to protect threatened species and ecosystems.

The collection is available in Haremlique Istanbul stores and online. Through this partnership, we reaffirm our belief that biodiversity conservation can be supported not only through science and fieldwork, but also through creative industries and everyday cultural expressions.
