We organized a beach clean-up event at Datça Taşlık Beach with the coordination of the Datça District Directorate of National Education, as part of the Blue Green Schools project of the Muğla Provincial Directorate Of National Education, with the participation of middle school students, teachers, parents, and volunteers.
Among the activities we organized to increase awareness about the environment, the coastal clean-up event aims to enable children to get to know nature, living things, and especially the marine ecosystem, establish a connection with the sea and spirit, and experience the knowledge they have learned about nature in school within nature itself.
The students who participated in the clean-up collected 65 kg of waste from the beach, including numerous cigarette butts, pull tabs, plastic bottles, and other plastic items. Additionally, game-based educational activities were organized to create environmental awareness among students. At the end of the event, students who prepared campaigns for environmental protection had a message for adults: "A Clean World!"
The students who participated in the event were awarded the title of Mediterranean Ambassador with a symbolic certificate as a souvenir. They will now keep their environment clean in their region, warn those who throw their trash on the ground, beach, and sea, and remind everyone that we must protect our environment.
