29.04.2025

Med Dialogues +2030 is an annual conference series that addresses sustainable development issues in the Euro-Mediterranean region. This event is organized by the European Institute of the Mediterranean (IEMed), the Barcelona Office of the Club of Rome, and the "la Caixa" Foundation. The conferences aim to highlight the sustainability challenges faced by Mediterranean countries and to raise awareness on these topics.

Our association’s Chairman of the Board, Zafer Kızılkaya, participated as a speaker in the session titled "Leading Marine Conservation Efforts in the Eastern Mediterranean", held on November 6, 2024, at Palau Macaya in Barcelona. This session was part of the 2024 edition of Med Dialogues +2030 and aimed to spotlight individuals and organizations striving for sustainability in the Mediterranean region.

In his presentation, Kızılkaya shared the process of establishing and expanding Turkey’s first community-based Marine Protected Area. He also discussed our experiences in engaging local fishers and chefs in efforts to combat invasive species. He emphasized that these experiences could serve as a model for other countries in the Mediterranean and could promote regional cooperation.

We believe that our Chairman’s presentation at this event is significant for promoting marine conservation efforts in Turkey on international platforms and for encouraging support for similar initiatives.
