The work of the Mediterranean Conservation Foundation (AKV) to protect marine and coastal ecosystems was featured in the August 2026 issue of Yeşil İş Platformu Magazine in an in-depth interview by Eda Ünsün.
The interview features insights from AKV General Coordinator H. Caner Bayrak and explores the threats facing marine and coastal ecosystems in the Mediterranean, the impacts of climate change, and the conservation models we have developed in response to these challenges.
At the Mediterranean Conservation Foundation, our work in the field demonstrates that marine ecosystems can recover through effective and long-term conservation efforts. As our General Coordinator H. Caner Bayrak highlights in the interview, the improvements observed in the indicators monitored by our scientific team through the Marine Ranger System, which we have been implementing for more than a decade, give us reason to be hopeful about the future. Approaches such as no-fishing zones and effective field-based protection demonstrate that conservation can deliver tangible results on the ground.
