As part of the Muğla Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry's Project for the Cleaning of Abandoned Fishing Gear from the Seas, the expert diving team of the Mediterranean Conservation Society (AKD) supported the cleaning event held in Göcek. The underwater cleaning activity took place in the No Fishing Zone at the Hamam location within the Fethiye – Göcek Special Environmental Protection Area, covering an area of 308 square meters. AKD's expert diving team, along with the Göcek Site Manager and Marine Ranger, contributed to the cleaning effort.

The pressure created by human-made waste threatens the lives of many marine organisms. In this underwater cleaning aimed at raising awareness and preventing marine pollution, a variety of waste was collected by divers from the Hamam region. During the cleaning event: 80 meters of rope, 107 bottles, 12 plates, 74 tin cans, 3 kg of metal, 21 kg of textiles, 650 meters of fishing line, and 35 kg of plastic waste were removed from marine life.
