Kayhan Güçeli has been appointed as the General Manager of the Mediterranean Conservation Society

Kayhan Güçeli has become the General Manager of the Mediterranean Conservation Society, which has been conducting effective nature conservation efforts in Turkey since its establishment in 2012.

Kayhan Güçeli, who had a successful career in the United States for many years, returned to Turkey and been appointed as the new General Manager of the Mediterranean Conservation Society which works to preserve the natural and cultural heritage along the coasts of Turkey in the Mediterranean Basin. Güçeli has been passionate about marine and nature conservation since his childhood.

Expressing his thoughts on his appointment as the General Director of the Mediterranean Conservation Society, Kayhan Güçeli said, "The task of preserving the unique historical and natural heritage left to us on the coasts of Anatolia, the cradle of civilization, gives me a tremendous sense of purpose in life. I am honored to serve the mission of Mediterranean Conservation in this regard."

Zafer Kızılkaya, the Chairman of the Board of the Mediterranean Conservation Society, stated, "Kayhan Bey has joined the expanding team of the Mediterranean Conservation Society with the position of General Manager. After his definite return from the USA in 2023, Kayhan Bey, who supported our underwater monitoring activities, will successfully apply his over 25 years of expertise in management and operational functionality to the organizational structure and activities of our Society. Mr. Güçeli, one of Turkey's first PADI diving instructors, is also one of the individuals who closely observes the changes in the Mediterranean. With his experiences in both business life and his underwater memory, we welcome our new General Manager, Mr. Güçeli, and look forward to achieving great successes together."

Who is Kayhan Güçeli?  

After completing his undergraduate studies in Mechanical Engineering at Middle East Technical University (ODTÜ), Kayhan Güçeli completed an MBA at North Central College in the United States. For the majority of his career, he held managerial positions in Operational Excellence in the automotive and medical equipment sectors in the United States, where he lived for 25 years. Güçeli's love for the sea and underwater activities began with snorkeling on the shores of Iskenderun at an early age. While continuing his university education, he actively participated in underwater research and training activities within the Underwater Society at ODTÜ student clubs. In 1988, he volunteered for three months in the Caretta Caretta Monitoring Project at Dalyan Beach. In 1992, he operated his own diving school in the Turunç region of Marmaris, Muğla, for four years. Kayhan Güçeli, who is married and has two children, currently resides in Urla, Izmir.
